Practical Introduction to oneAPI Workshop

Events from our oneAPI Centre of Excellence

On 10-11th May 2023, our oneAPI Centre of Excellence instructors will be running a practical introduction to Intel’s oneAPI in Daresbury. Sign up here to participate!

This 2-day training event, delivered by Intel certified trainers, will provide a practical introduction to Intel oneAPI. Day one will pay particular attention to the SYCL standard, providing practical guidance and examples on how to use oneAPI to create software that can work across multiple GPU vendors using a single piece of code. On day two, the other tools and optimisation methods available in oneAPI will be introduced to show how to create cutting-edge and optimised parallel code.

Who will benefit from this training course? Anybody who would like a working knowledge of using the oneAPI toolchain to create new or optimise existing code. Those who want to understand how to apply SYCL to create cross-vendor heterogenous software and already have a reasonable understanding of paradigms like GPU programming will likely get the most from this course, however it is designed to be inclusive and so those who want to understand things from the ground up are also encouraged. Those with no prior programming experience may not find this course the right starting point.

What will I take away?

A broad understanding of the Intel oneAPI framework, paying particular attention to its SYCL implementation but also its other parallelisation, optimisation and debugging tools. You will be taught by Intel accredited trainers and will receive a mixture of hands-on and taught training with lunch and refreshments provided on the day.

What will I need?

You will need to arrange your own travel and accommodation. We encourage you bring your own laptop/computing device, training material and compute provision will be provided for use on your own device during the workshop. Should you require an STFC provided laptop then please indicate this during registration, however please note that these are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
