Research Computing Services

Dr Stuart Rankin is the Head of Research Computing User Services at RCS. He has been administering high performance computing systems for research scientists in Cambridge and beyond for over 20 years. Originally from a Mathematics and High Energy Physics background, Dr Rankin started his HPC career in 1997 by setting up and managingĀ the COSMOS supercomputer operated by the Relativity and Gravitation group at the University of Cambridge on behalf of the UK Computational Cosmology Consortium. In 2007 he moved to the RCS where he has led the development of HPC services provided to ever-increasing and more diverse users from academia and beyond. He isĀ an expert in the evolving technology of high performance computing and the art of UNIX/Linux system administration.
